3A Your Entrepreneurship Story
The first experience that comes to mind when talking about
entrepreneurship is a project I completed in my junior and senior year of high
school. I was part of the finance academy
at school, and part of our final grade was to complete an entrepreneurship project
where we ordered and sold products to other students outside of the cafeteria. In order to get an “A,” we had to make at
least $300 worth of profit. The hardest
part of the challenge was deciding what item to sell to the students. My team had to brainstorm a product that was
both affordable to the students, but also something that both males and females
of different ages would want to purchase. In the end, my group decided to sell
socks with colorful patterns. They ended
up being a success.
I enrolled in ENT3003 because it looked like a very interesting business
elective. Even though I do not intend on owning my own business, I know that
the skills I will learn in this class will continue to help me in other parts
of my career (i.e. risk-taking and being customer-oriented).

ReplyDeleteGreat story! It was interesting to see that many other students in our class also were in some club in high school that presented them with the opportunity to be an entrepreneur! Your finance project story was a great read and relates to what we’re studying now so it must be cool for you to see how the applications of your project actually work! Great Post!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, this a great story and it's cool to hear that you've had some successful entrepreneurship experience already! Identifying your product and choosing one that will have a wide appeal to the market you're trying to reach definitely is one of the hardest parts of being an entrepreneur. I'm taking this class for essentially the same reason as yourself, as I know many of these skills will be helpful in other areas of life as well.
Hi Julianna, thank you for detailing your experience. This sounds similar to my entrepreneurship experience in high school in which I also had to implement a solution to a project for the program I was in. I would have not thought that socks would have been an attractive item to both men and women, but it's impressive that you were able to make a profit. I agree, those problem solving skills are transferable to many different positions or experiences inside or outside of business. I would think back to that time and there may be some more opportunity beliefs you thought of back then that you could use for this class! Thanks.
