1) You.
I am a second year business student at the University of Florida trying to figure out what my passions are in life. My talents include being sympathetic to the needs of others, organization, good writing skills, and creativity. I have experience working for small companies and working with others through team sports and my sorority. My aspirations are to be happy in life and find a career that I will be passionate doing. If I were to follow through with my business concept (Comprehensive facility for the homeless called Homeward Bound Florida), I would be CEO and chief strategist. I could see myself overseeing all parts of the business, looking to improve it, and energizing employees to do their best.
2) What are you offering to customers?
I am offering a comprehensive facility for the homeless of Alachua County, and way to get them back on their feet with the tools they need to be successful. I am solving an unmet need of housing, food, clothing, and soft skills like financial literacy.
3) Who are you offering it to?
The demographic that Homeward Bound Florida is targeting is homeless people in Alachua County. These people could have been in and out of homelessness, or permanently homeless. Either way, they all need help. Homeward Bound Florida would also benefit society as a whole, as society will be more productive and there will be more money going through the local economy.
4) Why do they care?
People will want to donate to this cause because everyone in Alachua county is affected. It is for the betterment of the community, which is why government entities will be encouraged to fund such a project. It will reflect well on everyone who takes part of funding.
5) What are your core competencies?
Some of my core competencies include being sympathetic to the needs of others, organization, good writing skills, and creativity. I also have a high emotional intelligence which means I can read myself and others, and delegate tasks accordingly when running a business.
Final Thoughts:
These components of myself and my idea will would work together well if I were to make this idea a reality. The biggest challenge, I suppose, would be the funding. Since my business idea would be a nonprofit, I would have to rely on government funding and charitable donations. There is no guarantee that I would be able to obtain this funding, which makes this opportunity somewhat shaky.
