14A Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
One behavior that I have used to keep up with this course is to look ahead and see how much time each blog post will take. Some posts only take a few minutes, so I wait until the night before they're due to write them. Other posts, like the ones that require interviews, will take me more than one day to complete. Since I have looked ahead, I know if I need to allocate more time to completing a post.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
A moment when I felt like giving up was when I was trying to find an internship for the 2019 fall semester. I had applied to about 30 jobs and internship positions around Gainesville, whether it be on LinkedIn, Indeed, gatorcareerlink, or the UF jobs website. I hadn't heard back from any of them, until one company, Enfoglobe, called me back for an interview. I now have been working there as a business analyst intern for 6 months. What pulled me through was keeping up hope that I would hopefully get a position, and someone would call me back for an interview.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
One tip that I would offer next semester's students about fostering the skills that support tenacity is always checking ahead at the beginning of the week to see how long the assignments will take you. That way, you can avoid cramming. One tip that I would recommend on developing a "tenacious mindset" is to remember what your end goal is. Remember why you are taking this class and what you hope to gain, and it will motivate your for the duration of the class.

Hey Julianna,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I agree that staying ahead of assignments and reading them ahead of time is one of the most important strategies to getting a good grade in this course. I also think your tips for future students are good ones and will help future students stay ahead of the course work. I hope everything goes well with your internship!
