28A Your Exit Strategy

1) Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?
I intend to have a family at some point, which may mean that I have to dial down my commitment to my career. At this point, I hope my business is successful enough that it can come under new management or that I can sell it.
2) Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?
As a woman, you are often forced to choose between being wildly successful in your career, or making room for a family and dedicating less time to your job.  Although this is an unfortunate position to eventually be in, I don't mind eventually having to make the sacrifice in order to raise my kids and be a greater part of their lives.
3) How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept? For instance, has it influenced how you have identified an opportunity? Has it influenced your growth intentions or how you plan to acquire and use resources?
Since my opportunity is hypothetical, my exit strategy has not influenced any of those other factors.

  1. Hi Julianna! Great post! I actually really enjoyed reading this post as a woman myself because at some point in the future we are faced with the decision to keep working or stay home with our families. Since business now a days can be done online and we will progress towards it being even more online, I think it could provide us with a great opportunity in the future! Great Job!
